Logging in and initial sync

Sign in with Crewdox

Use this option if you have a Crewdox email and password.

  1. Open the Crewdox app.
  2. Under Login with email, enter your email address and password.
  3. Tap Log In.
  4. If two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled for your account, check your email for the verification code and enter it on the next screen.

You're now signed in and will see the Crewdox home screen.

Forgotten your password? Tap Forgot password below the Log In button and follow the instructions sent to your email.

Sign in with Microsoft

Use this option if your organisation has linked Crewdox to its Microsoft accounts. You'll sign in with the same Microsoft email and password you use for work.

  1. Open the Crewdox app.
  2. Under Login with Microsoft, enter your company name in the Company Name field. If you're not sure what to enter, check with your administrator.
  3. Tap Sign in with Microsoft.
  4. A Microsoft sign-in window will open. Enter your work email address and tap Next.
  5. Enter your Microsoft password and complete any additional verification your organisation requires (for example, a code from the Microsoft Authenticator app).

Once verified, the window will close and you'll be taken to the Crewdox home screen.

Can't sign in? Microsoft login problems (wrong password, locked account, verification issues) are managed by your organisation's IT team, not Crewdox. Tap Can't access your account? in the Microsoft window or contact your IT support.

Initial sync

The first time you log in, Crewdox needs to download your data to your iPad before you can use the app. You'll see a Sync Required message.

  1. Tap Start Sync.
  2. The Syncing Data screen shows the progress of the sync. At the top you'll see how many actions have completed (for example, 25 completed of 35 actions), along with a progress bar and counts of what's completed, in progress and waiting. Below that is a list of everything being synced. Each item shows a tick when it's done, whether it was sent to the server (upload arrow) or loaded from the server (download arrow), and how many items were transferred. It's normal to see entries such as "No items to send to server" — this just means there was nothing new on your iPad to upload. You don't need to understand each item name; these are the app's internal data types.
  3. Keep the app open until every item shows a green tick and the Please wait while we sync your data message disappears. Depending on how much data your organisation has, this usually takes anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.

Once the sync is complete, you'll be taken to My Crewdox and can start using the app.

Tips

  • Use Wi‑Fi for the first sync if you can — it's usually faster and avoids using mobile data.
  • Don't close the app or lock your iPad during the sync, or it may need to start again.
  • After this first sync, the app only downloads changes, so later syncs are much quicker. See How sync works for details.
