Signatures overview.

Some forms require signatures — for example, an instructor's and a trainee's signature on a line check. There are two ways this can happen:

  • Signed on the iPad. If the signature fields are completed on the iPad when the form is filled in — for instance, the trainee signs on the instructor's iPad — the form is complete when submitted. No further action is needed.
  • Signature request. If a form is submitted with a signature field left empty, Crewdox sends the person who needs to sign an email asking them to log in and sign. The form then appears in their Signatures section until they've signed it. This is useful when the instructor completes the form later and the trainee is no longer in the same place.

Whether a form uses signature requests is set by your organisation for each form.

The Signatures screen

Open it by tapping Signatures in the menu. A red badge on the menu item shows how many requests are waiting for you.

The list shows each request with:

  • Form – the name of the form to be signed.
  • Request Sent At – the date the request was sent.
  • Statusnot signed or signed.
  • View – opens the form so you can review and sign it. See Signing a form.

A form stays in the list until everyone has signed and an administrator has approved it, then it disappears.

If a form is returned

If an administrator returns a signed form to the instructor for correction, all signatures on it are removed. This makes sure a form can't be changed after it has been signed. Once the instructor resubmits it, you'll receive a new signature request and will need to sign again.
