Courses
The course module in Crewdox is composed of various course blocks. These courses can be structured in numerous ways. Below, we provide a list of the most commonly used course blocks, along with instructions on how to effectively utilise them.
Course progress and block status
The app offers users updates on course progress and the status of individual blocks. It's important to note that the updates to the progress bar and course blocks are not immediate. These updates occur after a brief delay, facilitated by background synchronization when it's enabled. If you require immediate visibility of these updates before the background sync completes, you can initiate a normal sync to expedite the process. However, this step is optional and not a requirement.
Only users that are listed as trainers on a course will see the applicable courses under this menu item. The first level will list all courses in progress. By clicking on any of the courses, the course will be opened in the next screen.
Below is an example of how a course can be configured in Crewdox. Each block will show applicable progress and status depending on what has been completed.
Record blocks
The record blocks within the app display whether a record that is part of the course has been updated. These record blocks might have an associated form that can update the record block itself. When a form created from a record block is submitted, its status changes to "Grey" and is labeled as "BLOCKED". After an administrator approves the form in the Crewdox admin view, the status of the record block in the app will then change to "Green," indicating its approval and completion.
Form blocks are typically utilized within a course to update elements such as recurrent simulator training. Unlike Record blocks, which update a specific record and its expiry date, Form blocks do not update any records or expiry dates. However, the information and data entered in Form blocks are included in the final course report, contributing to a comprehensive overview of the course's activities and completions.
On-The-Job training (OJT)
A common application of the On-The-Job Training module in Crewdox is the creation of a LIFUS (Line Flying Under Supervision) program. For instructors, the module displays an overview of how many sectors or hours have been completed and what remains required. Additionally, the inclusion of training elements in the OJT is optional, allowing for flexibility in designing the program according to specific training needs and objectives.
In the sector list, all completed sectors are displayed. If a sector appears as "Green," it signifies that the sector has already been synchronized with the server. To add new sectors, you can click on the "+" icon located in the top right corner. As long as a sector is marked as "Amber," it indicates that the sector can still be deleted.
Below, the second sector, which is indicated as "Blue," has been submitted. Upon the next synchronisation of the app, this last sector will change to "Green" and will be assigned a sector number. This assignment depends on the specific settings established for the applicable LIFUS (Line Flying Under Supervision) program.
Training elements
When navigating within a sector, you can access the "Training Elements" tab by clicking on it at the bottom part of the screen. This feature allows for detailed interaction with specific training components associated with that sector
Training elements in a LIFUS (Line Flying Under Supervision) can be categorised as either mandatory or non-mandatory to mark as completed before the LIFUS is considered finished. The status of these elements is indicated by a color-coded system:
- GREY and UN-CHECKED: This status indicates that the element has not yet been marked as completed.
- GREEN and UN-CHECKED: This signifies that the element was completed in an earlier sector but is not checked off in the current sector.
- GREEN and CHECKED: This status means that the element has been completed and marked off in the current sector.
- BLUE: Represents that the element has been completed and marked off locally on the iPad but has not yet been synchronised with the server, most likely in an earlier sector.
